Admission and Requirements for Eligibility

The admission of the candidate will follow the rules established by the Graduate Program in Psychiatry. Basically, the admission process will consider the research plan, the student's CV and the supervisor's CV (with emphasis on the quality of publications), and the examination of required documents.

The requirements for eligibility vary according to the degree (Master's, PhD and Direct PhD) and the professional background of the applicant. These are listed below:

Proficiency in foreign language
It is a requirement for the application, according to item V from the program's bylaws.

Criteria for the Master's course
If in accordance to the availability of the supervisor, the candidate will be accepted with a grade at or above 7. The grade will be based on:
a) Research plan. Grade 0 to 10 (weight 6)
b) Analysis of the candidate's Curriculum Lattes (hosted on Lattes Platform). Grade 0 to 10 (weight 4).
The analysis will be held based on: academic background (weight 2), previous experience in research (weight 3), publications (weight 5).

Criteria for the PhD course (candidates holding a Master's degree)
If in accordance to the availability of the supervisor, the candidate will be accepted with a grade at or above 7. The grade will be based on:
a) Research plan. Grade 0 to 10 (weight 6)
b) Analysis of the candidate's Curriculum Lattes (hosted on Lattes Platform). Grade 0 to 10 (weight 4).
The analysis will be based on: academic background (weight 2), previous experience in research (weight 3), publications (weight 5).

Criteria for PhD course (candidates without a Master's degree)
Candidates must submit a proof of:
a) Scientific initiation (undergraduate research) and published article as the main author in a journal indexed by ISI Or
b) Previous participation in scientific research with at least 1 article as main author accepted by a journal index by ISI and Impact Factor at or above 0.5.

If in accordance to the availability of the supervisor, the candidate will be accepted with a grade at or above 7. The grade will be based on:
a) Research plan. Grade 0 to 10 (weight 6)
b) Analysis of the candidate's Curriculum Lattes (hosted on Lattes Platform). Grade 0 to 10 (weight 4).
The analysis will be based on: academic background (weight 2), previous experience in research (weight 3), publications (weight 5).

Split-site PhD program (partial completion at another university)
The requirements are the following:
a) Relevance of the research plan
b) Academic and professional background
c) Acceptance by an international supervisor whose publications in the previous 3 years must be in journals of impact factors summing 10 or above
