Applications
The applications for the Graduate Program in Psychiatry of the Department of Medicine at the University of São Paulo are accepted once a year. Contact us for further information or visit our page in Portuguese.
All the documents below should be handed to the Graduate Program's office, located at Rua Dr. Ovídio Pires de Campos, 785, 1º floor, room 1 C015, weekdays only, from 8 A.M. to 3 P.M.

Research plan (of exclusive authorship by the candidate as a researcher and the supervisor as the head researcher, without mentioning any collaborators - see our cover model - in Portuguese only)

Declaration from the chosen supervisor about the research's feasibility, the methodology, the compatibility with our deadlines, the place where the project will be done and express agreement on the supervision)

Legible copy of the Registro Geral (Brazilian ID Card). International students should present a copy of the Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros (RNE)

Legible copy of the Undergraduate diploma (registered at the Ministry of Education, in the case of Brazilian universities) or a declaration issued by your university within the last 3 months, mentioning the date of the conclusion

Score of the English proficiency test (issued in the last 5 years): TOEFL Institutional will not be accepted. We accept any of the following exams:

Reading Test in English for Candidates for Postgraduate Courses, offered by Cultura Inglesa, Pinheiros branch, exclusively for the Faculty of Medicine at USP. Minimum punctuation for Master's: 50 points. Minimum punctuation for PhD: 60 points.

Toefl Internet-based Test, with minimum punctuation of 40 points for Master's and 61 points for PhD.

Toefl Computer-based Test, with minimum punctuation of 120 points for Master's and 173 points for PhD.

APT(A) Alumni Proficiency Test, Oral Interview, Translation, by Associação Alumni exclusively for the Faculdade de Medicina da USP - FMUSP, with minimum punctuation of 70 points. This test is no longer offered. We will accept those previously taken with an expiration date of 5 years.

The foreign student must present certification of intermediate level in the proficiency test of Portuguese, offered by CELPE-Bras, within 18 months for Master's and 24 months for PhD and PhD without a Master's, calculated from the beginning of the course. Application fee: R$150 (one hundred and fifty reais). The payment slip (guia de pagamento) is handed by the Department Office and paid at the Tesouraria (Financial Office).
